Wireless Planner Gets a Third Round of Funding
By: Sara Palmbush
Schema, a telecom resource management (TRM) software and wireless network
service provider, collected a third round of funding worth $25.8 million
Tuesday.
The US-Israeli company and its fully owned subsidiary were financed by lead
investor BRM Capital, along with TL Ventures and EnerTech Capital Partners.
Mike Mers of BRM and William G. Kingsley of EnerTech will join Schema’s
board of directors. Previous investors, Walden Israel, the Challenge Fund,
Gemini Israel Funds, Eurofund and Docor International also contributed to
the third round of funding.
Schema provides an integrated and enterprise-wide network planning solution
to wireless carriers that, among other things, helps them to decide where to
place base stations for maximum traffic coverage. Unlike some other
providers, Schema’s solution also includes asset and frequency management
and data restructuring as well as network planning. According to the
company, this results in a greater return on a company’s existing
infrastructure investments.
Schema was founded in 1994 and began operating in the telecom arena in 1998.
It counts Verizon, Motorola and Cellcom Israel among its clients.
Managing director of TL Ventures, Mark DeNino, said in a statement, “The
future of wireless clearly lies in the ability to create enterprise-wide
efficiency that yields a balance between both spectrum and capital
resources. Schema is the undisputed leader in this respect with its unique
approach to telecom resource management. The company is well positioned to
capture this emerging niche and yield rewarding dividends to its
shareholders.”
The company plans to use the fresh funds on new product development, in
addition to growing its domestic and international presence and sales and
marketing teams.
