REMON

REMON`s mission is to open new opportunities for the Israeli Telecom Industries in the future 4G mobile market and achieve a leading role in critical technologies based on OFDMA, an innovative air-interface. Several segments of the future wireless market are currently in research and development such as, advanced OFDMA-based Physical Layer, integration of Smart antennas, Smart Networking, Advanced MAC and Spectrum Optimization tools. These research areas create a synergy among the consortium members. The Israeli Academic institutions have a major role in advancing the state-of-the-art. 12 academic research projects are part of REMON consortium activity encompassing the following topics- Smart Antenna algorithms, Radio Resource management, Integral location techniques, Handover algorithms, Space-Time coding and efficient spectrum utilization. REMON`s main target for the first R&D phase, extended over three years, is the development of critical technologies spanning Smart Antenna for both the Base Station and User handset, Space- Time coding, efficient protocols for channel management, cost effective OFDM/OFDMA System-on-Chip modems and optimization of the radio access network.
