In 2005, Schema completed a successful project using Ultima Forté™ , an automatic RF network optimization product, for a large Asian GSM operator running Siemens equipment.

The operator defined two challenging goals for this project: improve network quality and provide the engineering team with the hands-on experience necessary for implementing UltimaTM FortéTM independently on a live GSM network.

With the mission-critical goals of maintaining high quality of service while maintaining the network’s planning efficiency on a regular basis, the operator turned to Schema to provide a faster, more efficient, more productive and cost effective optimization plan.

Confirm Ultima Forté™ capabilities to improve the GSM network quality in a quick, easy and effective manner while increasing customer satisfaction

Provide the operator’s RF engineering teams with hands-on experience in using Ultima Forté™ on a live network

Project Results
the combined network quality measured for the 36 cells selected for optimization improved by 22.71% (exceeding the operator’s pre-defined success criterion of 20%) in addition to a 5% increase in network traffic

Based on the measured Down Link RxQual, the resulting network interference model showed a very high level of accuracy (a correlation of 75% with the network statistics) and guaranteed the safe implementation of the frequency plan. Various frequency plans can now be analyzed prior to implementation, enabling the operator to “get it right the first time”

The project was performed on schedule, due to good project planning, good coordination and complete cooperation between the operator’s team and Schema
