| Improving GSM Network Performance - II |
|
|
Schema conducted an optimization project using Ultima Forté™ to optimize the RF network quality for a large East European GSM operator running Alcatel equipment. The operator defined two challenging goals: improve RF network quality using Schema’s RF automatic optimization product and target significant improvements in major RF KPIs.
With the mission-critical goals of maintaining QoS (quality of service) while improving network quality and maintaining network planning efficiency, the operator turned to Schema to provide a faster, more efficient, more productive and cost effective optimization plan.
Project Objectives
-
Improve RF network quality using Ultima Forté™, Schema’s automatic RF optimization product, by targeting significant improvements in major KPIs
-
Confirm Ultima Forté™ capabilities to improve network quality in a quick, easy and effective manner while increasing customer satisfaction
-
Provide the operator’s RF engineering teams with hands-on experience in using Ultima Forté on a live network
Project Results
-
The trial results show a significant improvement in the minutes-per-drop as well as the Drop Call Rate and handover failure rate, SDCCH drop rate, network accessibility and downlink RxQual
-
Additional improvements were obtained through activating base band hopping for some cells in the network. The optimization goals were achieved, resulting in a substantial improvement in network performance of the optimization set
Operator Benefits
-
Improved network quality
-
Improved operator market position, image and customer satisfaction, thereby reducing customer churn
-
Fast project turnaround and low overhead, allowing for rapid optimization on an on-going basis
