The Hottest High-Tech Industry Trends for 2010

Deloitte predicts that in 2010 the world will become more efficient, interconnected and personal.  Processors will consume less electricity and will cost less; Employees will be able to purchase cellular phones and laptops of their choce; Web surfers will pay only for actual use, and E-books will lose out to tablets.
A look at the Israeli trends and companies that will stand out in the coming year:

18. The load on cellular traffic will continue to grow

With the growth in web access via cellular infrastructure, operators are expected to increase their investment in broadband. For the first time, this investment will be greater than average expenses from the purchase of information systems. Within 18 months, wireless traffic will shift from under to over-capacity, a fact that will encourage operators to move to 4th Generation LTE or WIMAX. Israeli companies that develop 4G technologies, Femtocell, data compression, and management of cellular networks – such as Altair, Alvarion, Percello, and Schema – will benefit.
